Missed roofing leads

Missed roofing leads: where they slip through, and how to catch them.

A missed lead isn't always one nobody saw. Often it's a web form that waited until tonight, or a reply that answered but never booked. Here's where roofing leads usually slip, and how to catch more of them.

Where leads slip

Four common gaps

After-hours web forms

A form comes in at 9 PM or on a Saturday and sits until the next workday.

The wrong inbox

Form notifications go to an old address, a shared inbox, or the spam folder.

Lead-service emails

Lead emails from Google or Angi arrive while you're on a roof and get buried.

Answered, but never booked

Someone replies "we'll call you," the homeowner keeps shopping, and the job can go to whoever offered a time first.

Why it costs you

Missed leads aren't free leads.

You already paid for these leads. Google Local Services Ads charge "for each valid lead you receive" (Google), and Angi charges for leads "whether or not you open or respond to them" (Angi Help Center). Neither publishes a set price for roofing leads. For search ads, LocaliQ's 2025 benchmark of its customers' campaigns puts the median cost per lead for roofing & gutters at $228.15 (Google and Microsoft search ads, April 2024 to March 2025). Sources checked Oct 2026. Your own cost per lead may be higher or lower. Source: LocaliQ.

Why speed matters. In a Harvard Business Review study, firms that tried to contact a web lead within an hour were nearly seven times as likely to qualify it as firms that tried even an hour later. That study, published in 2011, looked at web leads at 42 U.S. companies, not roofers specifically, and "qualify" meant reaching a decision maker, not closing a sale. Source: Oldroyd, McElheran & Elkington, "The Short Life of Online Sales Leads," HBR, March 2011 (one author led a sales-software company).

Quick self-check

Are you missing roofing leads?

  • Do you know how many web forms and lead emails came in last month?
  • Did each one get a real reply the same day, including nights and weekends?
  • Does your website form send to an inbox you check from your phone?
  • Have you checked your spam folder for form notifications this month?
  • Did your replies offer a time to inspect, or just promise a call?

If you answered "not sure" to any of these, start with the free speed-to-lead audit. We send one clearly disclosed test inquiry through your website form and email you how long the reply took.

How it works

Three steps. Nothing new to learn.

1

A lead comes in

A website form or lead email. Day, night, or Sunday.

2

First Ping usually replies within minutes

A friendly message signed with your company name, asking one question at a time:

  • Address or ZIP?
  • What's going on with the roof?
  • Is water coming in right now?
  • What time works?
3

The inspection gets booked

On your calendar, in the slots you allow. The homeowner gets a confirmation email, and you get a calendar invite and a short job summary.

FAQ

Questions roofers ask.

How do I know if I'm missing leads?

Count last month's web forms and lead emails, then check when each one got a real reply. Or request the free audit, and we'll test your website form for you.

Do Google or Angi charge for leads I don't answer?

Google Local Services Ads charge "for each valid lead you receive" (Google), and Angi charges for leads "whether or not you open or respond to them" (Angi Help Center). Opportunities you never accept aren't charged. Check your own account terms for details.

Can First Ping catch leads that come in by phone?

No. First Ping answers web-form and email leads. Phone calls and voicemails still come to you.

Which lead sources does it work with?

Your website contact form and lead emails. Lead-service emails, like the ones Angi sends, can be added. We confirm your exact sources during setup.

What if a lead isn't a fit, or someone wants a person?

Out-of-area or non-roofing leads get a polite reply and are passed to you, not booked. If someone is upset or asks for a person, it apologizes and hands the lead to you right away.

Is there a contract? Can I cancel?

Month to month. No per-call fees. Cancel anytime by email before your next billing date. See the Terms.
